PreVisor’s PreView™ Computer Adaptive Testing
Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) is a method for administering tests that adapts to the candidate’s ability level. It is one of the most accurate and secure methods of measuring skills and job readiness. A computer adaptive test “adapts” itself to test takers by selecting the next item to be presented based on performance on preceding items.

PreVisor’s PreView CAT technology allows our assessment system to quickly identify and present items that most closely match the applicant’s proficiency and then accurately evaluates the applicant’s ability level. Each test session is built in real-time as the applicant responds to each test item.

Increase Test Precision and Accuracy
Traditional skills tests can present items that may be too easy or difficult for applicants. PreVisor’s PreView CAT technology focuses on applicant ability levels with increased precision, so better distinctions between applicant ability levels can be made.

Enhance Test Security
Because the PreView technology tailors each test to specific applicant ability levels, applicants receive a varying set of items, greatly improving security. The use of vast item pools in computer adaptive testing also makes it possible to replace over-exposed items ensuring content integrity.

Reduce Test Time
Traditional tests are typically comprised of items at the easy, medium and difficult ends of the spectrum to ensure coverage of ability levels for all possible examinees. PreVisor’s PreView process uses a smaller number of items by only administering items that are specifically matched to the applicant’s ability resulting in reduced test time.

Improve the Applicant Experience
Due to the shorter test times of the PreView CAT methodology, applicants experience less test fatigue which reduces applicant drop out rates. Potential candidates are less likely to experience boredom or test anxiety as questions are neither too easy nor too difficult. In turn, this positive applicant experience reflects well on the employer. PreVisor offers hundreds of tests administered in computer adaptive format.
